Big Train Baseball Scouts for Host Families
Is Junior looking for a little extra batting practice? Do you have an empty bedroom in your house begging for an occupant?
The Bethesda Big Train Baseball team is looking for a few local host families to take in players during June and July. The summer collegiate team that plays at Shirley Povich Field in Cabin John Park will bring 25 ball players from around the country to the Bethesda-Potomac region this year. In addition to playing on the Big Train team, many of these players will be camp counselors for the program's summer baseball camp.
Families that host players will receive a family season pass to the Shirely Povich Field, discounts on Big Train baseball camp and a "first priority" place in the Big Train bat boy program.
The Bethesda Big Train team plays in the Cal Ripken League, with teams from Rockville, Silver Spring-Takoma Park, Baltimore, Washington, D.C., and Virginia. Pre-season scrimmages start on Saturday, June 1. Opening night is Friday, June 7, and the regular season closes Sunday, July 28.
