Bold Bite Takes Its Popular Hot Dogs to the Streets

Gourmet hot dog shop owners have launched a hot dog cart.

The owners of a popular Bethesda gourmet hot dog joint are taking their cuisine to the streets.

Bold Bite has debuted a new hot dog cart on the streets of Bethesda, Bold Bite chef and owner Alonso Roche tells Patch. And what could be more fitting for a hot dog business inspired by popular South American street food?

The cart is serving up hot dogs, chips and soda on the go, Roche said. The menu, however, is more limited than at the Bold Bite storefront location—it won’t sell the restaurant's popular sausages, Roche said.

So far, the new cart has made an appearance twice in downtown Bethesda and has met with positive response. The cart is also available for catering gigs, and it’s already made appearances at several events around town.

“It’s much nicer than the regular hot dog carts you’ll find in DC,” Roche said.

“It’s a luxury cart—there’s a three component sink for pots and pans, a dishwashing station, all of the stuff that’s required by the county.”

Bold Bite expects the cart will make its next stops Wednesday near Walter Johnson High School and Friday near Roche said.

If you miss it, not to worry—you’ll get a chance to catch the cart’s cuisine at this Saturday’s Taste of Bethesda.

“Instead of setting up a stand at Taste of Bethesda, we’ll just take the cart,” Roche said.
