Bethesda tweep and Patch blogger David Heyman also cheered the announcement:

"@Chopt Thank goodness! Was forced to go to Rosslyn location for dinner Saturday night. Hurry the construction!" Heyman tweeted.

The chain has locations in New York and Washington, DC, according to its website. Customers can choose or customize salads or "salad sandwiches," salads wrapped in flat bread. Options include twists on classic cobb, greek and ceasar salads along with a few more unique offerings, like the "Grilled Asian" and "Palm Beach Shrimp" salads.

Diners can also choose from a seasonal menu, which features salads made with local ingredients. Those offerings shift every 60 days.

The new location is planned for 10307 Old Georgetown Road.
