Creative Parties To Vacate Woodmont Location

The store will open a new location on St. Elmo Avenue as early as next week.

The iconic blue and green building on Woodmont Avenue, home of Creative Parties Ltd., could be the latest casualty of Bethesda’s downtown redevelopment, according to local reports.

The event planning and invitation store will move to the first floor of the Landow Building on St. Elmo Avenue as early as next week, reports Bethesda Now and local blogger Robert Dyer. Creative Parties Ltd. owner Tracy Bloom Schwartz told Bethesda Now the move is to avoid any potential redevelopment on the current site, where she’s been in business for 16 years.

“Instead of signing another five-year lease, Bloom Schwartz decided to move to a more steady location,” the report states. The new location will be slightly smaller.

Redevelopment plans for the area had included a new second district police station and a mixed-use residential project on Cordell Avenue, a project that was scrapped in November after years of public and private negotiations.
