Dessange Delays Opening, Moves to Temporary Location

Clientele of the Chevy Chase salon of will have to wait slightly longer than originally planned for the unveiling of the salon's new location on Wisconsin Avenue in Friendship Heights.

, the salon announced that it would be moving in the spring to the former  location at 5468 Wisconsin Ave.—just up the street from the salon's former location at 5410 Wisconsin Ave.

But, turning the old diamond store into a new hair salon hit a few bumps along the way, and the opening date for the salon has been pushed back to October, César Carvalho, public relations and marketing specialist for the Chevy Chase location of Dessange Paris, told Patch.

The bumps were legal in nature, Carvalho added. As the Dessange salon in Chevy Chase is owned by Dessange Paris, it adheres to certain standards set by the parent company in France. Adapting those standards to fit Maryland's state laws for hair salon and spa businesses took more time than originally anticipated.

Meanwhile, Dessange will operate in a temporary location at The Elizabeth Arcade (4601 North Park Ave.—on the ground floor of condominium building). Free parking will be available to clients.

At the salon's new location in the old diamond store, a spa will offer "a vast choice of massages as well as face and body treatments in "oval-shaped individual cabins recalling the symbol of infinity," . Other services at the new salon will include personalized skin diagnostics and made-to-measure cosmetics and makeup.
