Divino Lounge Closes Doors on Wisconsin Avenue

Unsuccessful rental negotiations caused closure, according to owners.

Bethesda's Argentine steakhouse Divino Lounge has closed its doors on Wisconsin Avenue for good, though this may not be the last we see of the restaurant.

The steakhouse opened with much fanfare 10 years ago, but in recent years has seen a decline in patronage, according to Bethesda Magazine. In December Bethesda Magazine speculated on the restaurant's closing, citing a dark interior and locked doors:

Now a "for rent" sign hangs above the space, and Divino's owners had this to say on the restaurant's website:

Dear friends and customers: I would like to take a few minutes of your time to thank you for having accompanied me during these 10 years.

For all your support during all this time, I have to announce that Divino Lounge has closed its doors. There have been extensive negotiations with the landlord and due to the approach of the expiration of our lease, we did not have another choice.

Thank you very much to my friends and customers for joining me over all the years; no doubt, you were a very important pillar for Divino. I also want to thank my staff for the unconditional support they have given me.

Finally, for those who have enjoyed our food, I say goodbye with this message: WE WILL SEE YOU SOON!!

Best regards and have a wonderful Merry Christmas!

Will you miss Divino Lounge? Do you think the restaurant would do well if it reopens in a new location?
