Fun Buy Of The Day: Olympic Cupcakes

With all eyes on London beginning Friday, local retailers are catching the craze and offering up all sorts of unique Olympics-themed products. We're taking to the streets of Bethesda to check out the coolest items money can buy to help you get in the spirit of the summer games.

Today’s “Fun Buy Of The Day” are Olympic cupcakes from . Sure, you may have to wait in line, but what better to serve during your Olympic watch party than the shop’s classic red velvet cupcake with an adorable “DC Cupcakes” gold medal fondant?

The shop announced the fun new flavor this week via Facebook.

You can also order up the “Olympic Dozen,” featuring six of the red velvet Olympics-themed cupcakes, three Valrhona chocolate cupcakes topped with vanilla buttercream frosting and fondant American flags, and three Madagascar Bourbon vanilla cupcakes.

The treats will run you $2.75 each, $15 for a half dozen or $29 for a dozen. Beginning Friday, pick up your order at any Georgetown Cupcake location (including Bethesda Row,) pre-order for pickup, or order online for shipping.
