Ground Floor Retail Sought for New Building Featuring Restaurant, Roof Deck

With a Dunkin' Donuts and a new restaurant by the owner of Tommy Joe's planned, what else would you like to see in the new building?

Developers of a building that will house a Dunkin' Donuts and Baskin-Robbins and a new restaurant featuring a rooftop deck by the owner of Tommy Joe's are looking to round out its retail concept.

The commercial project, located at the corner of Norfolk and Cordell avenues and dubbed Norfolk-Cordell II, is being developed by Park Place Properties. Construction is moving along at the site with renovations and additions to an existing commercial building.

A sign outside the new building advertises a remaining 4,000 square feet of "prime first floor retail space" in the 10,000-square-foot building.

The owner of Tommy Joe’s will lease the second floor and the roof deck, and there’s space for up to three more restaurants on the first floor, complete with patio seating, Patch reported last year. One of the spaces will be filled by a combined Dunkin' Donuts and Baskin-Robbins, which will be one of two new downtown Bethesda locations for the coffee chain following its pending departure from Bethesda Row.

The restaurant on the second floor will serve upscale bar food, small plates and entrees in the $20 range, Tommy Joe's owner Alan Pohoryles told Bethesda Magazine’s Table Talk blog.

The building is expected to open this summer.
