Haven Pizzeria To Open Feb. 15

Bethesda Magazine's Table Talk blog reports on the newest addition to Bethesda's crowded pizza market.

Good news on the pizza front.

The long-awaited Haven Pizzeria, a New Haven-style pizza restaurant planned for 7137 Wisconsin Avenue, will open Feb. 15, Bethesda Magazine's Table Talk blog reports.

Construction and approval delays pushed back the restaurant's opening, originally planned for last summer, according to Table Talk.

Owners Tiger Mullen and Mark Bergami told Patch last year they plan to serve up traditional pizzas with thin, “crackery” crusts and “airy layers of cooked bread inside," making the dough from scratch each day.

"I see during the day this being a real in-and-out, fast type of place for the business person and at night it being a place to relax,” Bergami, a New Haven native, told Patch last year.

The space now features a 100,000-pound brick oven fired with anthracite coal, Bethesda Magazine reports.
