Kid-Friendliest Restaurants in the Neighborhood

Zagat's recent list of kid-friendly restaurants in the Washington, DC, area didn't forget Montgomery County and NW DC. Here are a few local restaurants that made Zagat's cut:

Just down the street from Chevy Chase Circle, Comet Ping Pong (5037 Connecticut Ave. NW, Chevy Chase, DC) is frequented by "[lots] 'of neighborhood types'—'oldies, twentysomethings, families with babies'—[bopping] into this 'quirky' Van Ness 'pizza and Ping-Pong' palace for 'tasty' 'New Haven–style' pies and 'some of DC’s best wings,' " Zagat reported from its readers' reviews.

At Mamma Lucia (which has a ), "[lots] 'of families' frequent this area mini-chain of 'everyday Italian joints' for 'quick' fixes featuring 'crusty' 'New York–style pizza' and 'generous portions' of 'reliable' 'red-sauce' standards," according to Zagat and its readers' reviews.

At sushi restaurant (4918 Cordell Ave., Bethesda), "prices are 'reasonable' and it’s 'fine to bring the kids,' " Zagat and its readers reported.

Just south of the Maryland-DC border in Friendship Heights, Pete's New Haven Style Apizza (4940 Wisconsin Ave. NW, Friendship Heights, DC) is a " 'neighborhoody' industrial space ... 'fun even when it’s overrun by urban moms and dads with giant strollers,' though a beer list with 'quality microbrews' provides cold comfort," Zagat added.

A little further down Wisconsin Avenue from Pete's, 2Amys (3715 Macomb St. NW, Cleveland Park, DC) offers up similarly kid-friendly foods and atmosphere.

And, at  (4870 Bethesda Ave., Bethesda), the " 'über-casual' indoor/outdoor settings can get so 'loud' [that] 'no one can hear your kid scream,' but most 'don’t care after the first sip of margarita,' " Zagat and its readers reported.
