My Gym Owner Finds Success in Bethesda

Mandy Lemar talks about her children's fitness center in Bethesda

It's been a year since Mandy Lemar expanded her business and opened a fitness center for children in Bethesda.

My Gym was originally opened in Potomac 12 years ago and after running a successful business for more than a decade, she decided to open a second location.

The business offers programs for children ages three months to 13 years, including "mommy and me" classes to children up to 3.5 years old.

"We incorporate gymnastics, music and movement, sports, fitness games, relays, obstacle courses, swings, slides and more," Lemar said. "My Gym kids have great self-confidence, develop self-esteem and independence."

In addition to classes, they are also available for birthday parties, camps, parents night out and other special events.

A mother of three, Lemar used My Gym herself since her oldest was six months old. She bought the Potomac location when she heard it was for sale because she knew the business would fit into her family's lifestyle.

"Kids spend so much time in front of the TV and playing video games these days and we want them to love moving and being active at a very young age," Lemar said.
