New Treat Shop 'Sugar & Ice' Coming to Chevy Chase

The shop will open on Sunday with a gourmet candy buffet bar featuring modern twists on classic candies.

Prepare your sweet tooth for Chevy Chase's newest eatery: sugar & ice, a modern twist on the classic candy shop, opening this Sunday on Wisconsin Circle.

The shop has been around for some time as a candy catering company, catering local events at places such as Neiman Marcus and Saks, as well as birthday parties, bar mitzvahs and other special occasions, owner Chris Bennett told Patch.

Catering customers were asking when the company would have a real storefront, so Bennett decided to open one. Since many of their customers are in the Chevy Chase area, it made sense to open in Chevy Chase, she said.

Sugar & ice will be next door to cupcake shop Frosting, but its treats will be different: classic candies, snow cones, candy bars, gourmet popcorn bars and more. As the business' signature display as a caterer is the candy buffet, the store will offer a candy buffet bar as well, with candies sold by weight.

Sugar-free candies and unique gifts also will be available, Bennett said.

The shop's new space includes a private room for events—email sugar.ice.dc@gmail.com for more information.

The sweet treats shop opens at noon on Sunday, June 2, on Wisconsin Circle at Western Avenue. It'll close at 6 p.m. that day, and will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily starting on Monday.
