Most locations—not including the Bethesda location—will be rebranded as Gold's Gym.

A Frederick, MD-based chain of fitness centers with locations in DC, Maryland and Virginia has been purchased by Gold's Gym, The Washington Post reported.

Seventeen of Fitness First's 18 locations will convert to the national brand, a spokesperson for the company told The Post. The Bethesda location, at 7900 Wisconsin Ave., will continue to operate as a Fitness First.

The Bethesda location is to be demolished and redeveloped, likely starting in 2014, Bethesda Now reported, and Fitness First CEO Peter Harvey told Bethesda Now that "he intends to keep the Bethesda gym in its existing location." Read more about the Bethesda location situation on Bethesda Now's website.
