Report: Relic Denied Renewal of Liquor License

Liquor board denies renewal following complaints of rowdy, intoxicated crowds, Bethesda Magazine reports.

Bethesda’s has been denied a renewal of its liquor license following complaints of rowdy, intoxicated crowds outside the establishment, Bethesda Magazine reports.

The Fairmont Avenue bar and restaurant is appealing the Montgomery County liquor board’s June 7 decision not to renew its liquor license, Bethesda Magazine reports. And June 12, a Montgomery County judge ruled the establishment couldn’t serve alcohol during the appeal process, according to Bethesda Magazine.

“The police were having a lot of issues during closing time,” Emily DeTitta, licensing and outreach manager for the county Department of Liquor Control, told Bethesda Magazine. “They specifically said it was generated from the crowd coming out of Relic….people were getting extremely intoxicated. Fights would happen. The crowd would get too rowdy. There were lots of calls for service for the police.”
