Sidewalk at 7550 Wisconsin Avenue to be Closed for a Year

Facade improvements on the the office building at 7550 Wisconsin will cause the sidewalks there to be closed for a year, according to Akridge Construction.

Akridge Construction is reporting that they will close the sidewalk down at 7550 Wisconsin in order to accomodate facade improvements of an office building.

"For this work to be safely completed, it is necessary to close the sidewalk adjacent to the building during construction," wrote Akridge in a press release. The company said it is expected to complete the work in November of 2012.

The travel lane, adjacent to the building, will be "intermittently" closed during non-rush hour periods so that the existing facade can be removed and new glass panels can be installed.

All businesses on the 7500 block of Wisconsin will remain open during construction, according to Akridge.

"While we realize this will pose a temporary inconvenience for some, the long-term impact of an enhanced streetscape and a new building is expected to be a valuable improvement for Wisconsin Avenue and the overall neighborhood," wrote the company in its release.

The project is expected to bring Class A office space to the 120,000 square-foot building with amenities including floor-to-ceiling glass, a green roof with entertainment space, ground floor retail and a fitness facility, according to Akridge.
