Zelaya Shoes To Remain Open

Bethesda Magazine's Shop Talk reports the shoe store won't close as planned.

Thanks to the support of the Bethesda community, will remain open as a "discount shoetique" on St. Elmo Avenue, Bethesda Magazine's Shop Talk blog reports.

Shop Talk that the store, which has called Bethesda home for the past eight years, would close in February in the face of a sluggish economy.

But owner Tony Zelaya now tells Shop Talk that his closing sale was so successful, he plans to remain open, albeit with a different concept -- selling designer shoes at a 30 to 75 percent discount rather than staying on as a full-price retail store.
