Children picking out school clothes from garbage bags

Children picking out their school clothes from garbage bags and mothers watching their children go to sleep each night on the floor is unacceptable.

Bethesda Chevy Chase Chamber of Commerce members, Hoover-Fisher Florist and A Wider Circle, team up to end poverty:

Silver Spring MD, (all Fridays 6pm to 10pm and all Sundays 12pm-7pm in October starting 10/18/2013) Hoover Fisher Florist is seeking individuals interested in helping with time, supplies and or cash donations as they clean, prep and paint a loading dock, hallways, side rooms and 11 doors and trim at A Wider Circle at 9159-C Brookville Road, Silver Spring, MD 20910.

A food drive will follow at a later date.

The soon-to-be Eagle Scout, Alexander Clipper of Boy Scout troop 1441, head of the project, is looking to follow it up with a sustainable food drive. After visiting the Wider Circle food pantry in September, the Life scout commented, “I can't believe how quickly the shelves get empty! Everybody needs food to survive; these shelves should be full all the time.” In November, he will be looking for local individuals and organizations interested in participating in his kick off food drive and sustainable food drives which he intends to put in place for A Wider Circle in November.

 About A Wider Circle

Hundreds of thousands of mothers watching their children go to sleep each night in beds rather than on the floor. Children picking out their school clothes each morning from dressers rather than plastic garbage bags. Low-income, pregnant adolescents receiving the care-taking skills needed to raise healthy babies. Recently-homeless parents learning – and putting into practice – the basic life skills needed to find and retain a job. This is why we are here, to create what is possible.

The mission of A Wider Circle™ is to end poverty.
