Bethesda-Chevy Chase Area Crew Teams Dominate Maryland High School Rowing Championship races over the weekend.

Bethesda-Chevy Chase Area Crew Teams Dominate Maryland High School Rowing Championship. B-CC rowers earn 1st Place in all championship finals; Whitman and WJ earn 2nd and 3rd places.

B-CC HS rowers earn 1st Place in all championship races; Whitman HS and WJ HS earn 2nd and 3rd places.

Five Montgomery County Public School rowing teams competed at Maryland High School Rowing Championship at Washington College with Bethesda-Chevy Chase HS sweeping the top prizes in all finals.

B-CC, Whitman, Walter Johnson, Blair and Churchill high schools entered extrememly strong teams against state-wide field at the championship regatta hosted by Washington College, Chestertown, MD on April 28

B-CC HS varsity women and varsity men walked away victorious with first place in all finals for Girls Novice 8, Men's Varsity 4 and both Women's Varsity 4 boats.

The B-CC Barons delivered four exciting finals, including an extremely close Girls 2V8 race as determined B-CC athletes chased down Whitman to in by just over a second.

The Boys 2V8 race was also a nail-biter, when the B-CC boat had some difficulty in the final stretch, recovering just in time to get across the finish line ahead of Whitman.

The Boys and Girls 1V boats both won by open water in decisive races.

As a storm front approached and the winds picked up, race officials were forced to cancel afternoon finals for the teams of fours and the freshman eight teams. 

Bringing home gold medals and the Maryland State Champion titles for B-CC:

Womens 1V8: Emma Dauster (cox), Margaux Carle, Erin Walk, Sofia Arend, Katherine Smith, Kat Sampson, Kelly Williams, Caitlin Beakes, Julia Cardwell

Womens 2V8: Maddy Turner (cox), Tamsin Bradbury, Vanny Stepney, Mackenzie Zellner, Sabina Gudmundsson, Julia Vasquez, Lizzie Hook, Natalie Rogers, Hayley Peacock

The Maryland High School Rowing Championship is hosted by Washington College each year on the Chester River in Chestertown, MD.  The event is sanctioned by US Rowing.  This year’s championship included rowing clubs from more than 14 Maryland high school rowing teams.
