How to throw a successful barbecue

It is barbecue time with Memorial Day just around the corner and Father's Day close by - learn five tips on how to throw a successful barbecue.

Whether you are looking to honor those who have served you and our country or if you’re looking to honor your Dad and make that perfect Father’s Day statement, there’s nothing like a backyard barbeque with family and friends to show your love and respect. At Ripken Gourmet Burgers,we know that making a great party, just like making a great burger, requires attention to detail and having all the right ingredients.

Great parties cater to children of all ages. Have some games on hand that require little to no skill. Some of our favorites are Nerf baseball, croquet, Frisbee golf and lawn darts - all guaranteed to liven things up.

 2. AVOID UNWANTED GUESTS

The aromas of delicious food and allure of outdoor lights are sure to attract unwanted attention from mosquitoes, moths and other such uninvited guests. To keep things comfortable, light up the yard with citronella candles or torches. Keep a few umbrella-style food tents handy to keep bugs out of your dips, burgers, cakes and pies.

3. TIMING IS EVERYTHING

It can take anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes to get things going. Fire up the grill far enough in advance so that it’s at just the right temperature when you’re ready to cook. If you will be grilling for a while, make sure you have enough charcoal to replenish the fire.

 4. KEEP ‘EM WET

No party is complete without the right beverage. To keep things cool and lively, serve iced tea with fresh sliced peaches and mint. Don’t forget the beer. Fill the ice chest with an assortment of small batch craft brews. Whether local or imported, the adventure of tasting and comparing notes will spark conversation and provide new experiences for your guests.

 5. MAKE A GREAT BURGER

Nothing beats the taste of a dry-aged Black Angus burger. Since you’ll want to have plenty on hand, and you don’t want to fuss with raw meat, keep a ready supply of Ripken Gourmet Burgers, made with Roseda Black Angus beef, in the freezer. When you’re ready to cook, take what you need and simply place them on the grill. It’s that easy. Available at all Giant Foods and Martin's Food

COOKING TIP: Don’t flip your burger until the natural juices rise to the top and only then, flip your burger. Follow us on Twitter @Ripken Burgers and Facebook www.Facebook.com/RipkenGourmetBurgers for more tips and ways to enjoy our Ripken dry-aged, 100% all natural Black Angus gourmet burgers.
