Cut the grass!

Bethesda taxpayers not getting the basic services our taxes should cover.

Back in 2011, I blogged about how the grass on Old Georgetown Road medians went uncut, creating a dangerous situation by severly limiting visibility. Here we are 2 years later, and clearly nothing has improved.

I've been watching the grass grow and grow on the medians along Old Georgetown Road this spring. While I've cut my own grass 5 times so far this growing season, the Maryland Department of Transportation has been a no-show. I brought a yardstick out to shame the state. As you can see, the yardstick was not nearly long enough to measure the grass height so far. It took another 8 inches of the yard stick to reach the heighest grass, 42 inches!

If it were you or me, Montgomery County would enforce the law on lawn maintenance, which allows no more than 12 inches of growth. The law allows the County to then cut the grass and bill the landowner. County Executive Leggett, get the lawn mowers going and send the bill to the Governor!
