Air Quality Alert Issued For Tuesday

Avoid strenuous activity outdoors today.

The Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments, along with the Maryland Department of the Environment, has issued a Code Orange air quality alert for Tuesday for Montgomery County.

The entire Washington, D.C. metropolitan area is affected by the air quality alert.

Code Orange means that air pollution concentrations may become unhealthy for certain sensitive groups, including children, people with asthma, heart disease or other lung diseases and the elderly.

Air pollution effects can be minimized by avoiding strenuous activity or exercise outdoors.

Tuesday will be mostly sunny with a high near 91 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
