Bethesda 7-Eleven Sells Scratch Ticket Worth $100,000

28-year-old online college student claims the prize.

One lucky man recently walked out of Bethesda’s Wisconsin Avenue 7-Eleven with a scratch ticket worth $100,000.

The 28-year-old – who asked to only be identified by his first name, Dan, in a Maryland Lottery press release – said in the release that he bought the Crown Jewel 7’s ticket because he liked the way it looked. As he sat in his car to scratch the ticket, he revealed the lucky number 7 – but it was only when he brought the ticket into Maryland Lottery headquarters that he realized it was worth $100,000. “I thought to myself, it’s probably a $10 winner,” he said in the release.

Through a Maryland Lottery spokesman, Dan declined an interview request with Patch. But he told the Maryland Lottery that as an online college student, he would use the prize money to help pay for student loans and invest for the future, as well as donating to charity.
