Bethesda, Potomac Remain Hard Hit By Power Outages

Nearly 12,000 remain in the dark in Bethesda, Glen Echo and Cabin John.

Pepco is reporting the highest number of remaining Montgomery County power outages are in Potomac and portions of Bethesda, according to the utility's online outage map.

In Bethesda, Glen Echo and Cabin John Tuesday, nearly 12,000 homes remained in the dark and following Friday's violent storm.

According to the map, the ZIP code with the most lingering outages is Potomac's 20854, with 6393 customers still in the dark. Following close behind is Bethesda's 20817 ZIP, with 6202 customers remaining out of power.

Other portions of Bethesda fared better, with much of the downtown up and running soon after the storm. But outage numbers were still high Tuesday. About 2340 customers remained out of power in the 20812, 20816 and 20818 ZIP codes. About 3240 remained in 20814.

Montgomery County, which experienced the most storm damage in Pepco’s coverage area, is at 77 percent of complete restoration. Some 68,000 are still without power, said Pepco spokesperson Marcus Beal. In Prince Georges County, 17,000 are without power, and in DC 13,000 await restoration.
