Bethesda Row: Bonobos Returns, New Sweater Store, Bigger Lou Lou's

What new changes are happening to the Bethesda Row shopping scene?

The ever-evolving line up at Bethesda Row is in for a few more changes this spring, with recently vacated businesses making way for new ones.

The game of merry go-round includes two location switches and one new business – buckle in for this whirlwind before you go spring shopping, unless you want to find yourself entirely confused:

  1. The recently departed Bonobos is coming back. Bonobos opened its guideshop on Bethesda Row in November 2012, taking the spot of the recently departed Urban Chic on Bethesda Lane. When it opened, the company intended for the Bethesda Lane storefront to serve as a temporary location for the . Now the shop will return to Bethesda with another brick-and-mortar store, taking the space of Daddy & Son on Bethesda Avenue. How long will they stay this time?
  2. Pirjo is gone, but another business is set to come in, according to signage on the location door. Icebreaker, a New Zealand-based merino wool adventure apparel store, is set to move in. An August 2012 announcement set the opening date for March 2013.
  3. It’s not a store change, just a location change. Accessory boutique Lou Lou is moving from its closet-sized store on one side of Bethesda Lane to a location that’s six times larger just across the street. Store employees say the remodeling inside the new location (formerly Bonobos, and more formerly Urban Chic) should be completed in time for a March opening. The larger store space will allow for more room to shop – thank goodness – and more stock.

Don’t forget that fashionable moms can expect , to open on Bethesda Avenue this spring. By our count, all these switches leave at least one opening on Bethesda Row for a new business or restaurant.
