Bethesda Tops National "Brainpower" Rankings

Of 483 places mid-sized communities in the country, Bethesda is the most educated, according to an On Numbers analysis.

Looks like Bethesda has some serious smarts.

Bethesda and Palo Alto, Calif. topped 483 places in the country with populations between 50,000 and 99,999 in "brainpower" rankings, according to an On Numbers analysis of U.S. Census Bureau data.

Bethesda ranked number one.

The Business Journals' On Numbers developed brainpower rankings based on percentages of adults who dropped out of high school, stopped at a high school diploma, stopped at an associate degree or attended some college, stopped at a bachelor's degree, or earned a graduate or professional degree.

In Bethesda, eighty one percent of residents 25 and older hold a bachelor's degree, according to the analysis. Chevy Chase Village topped small communities in brainpower, On Numbers reported.
