BGR Heading to World Food Championships

Event, set for Las Vegas, to be hosted by Travel Channel personality Adam Richman.

Does BGR make the best burger in the world?

We'll soon find out.

The Burger Joint has been selected to compete in the World Food Championships, described by QSR Magazine as the "highest-stakes food competition in the world."

The event, set for Nov. 1 through 4 in Las Vegas, will be hosted by Travel Channel personality Adam Richman. Competitors will face off in multiple food categories, and each category winner will advance to a "final table" where the World Food Champion will be crowned, QSR reports.

Competition categories include the World Barbecue Championship, the World Open Chili Championship, the World Chef Challenge, the World Sandwich Championship, the World Side Dish Championship and the World Recipe Championship, in addition to the World Burger Championship.

Winners of all seven competitions head to the Final Table for a shot at the title of World Food Champion.

The World Burger Championship is set for Friday, Nov. 2.

"We have a great opportunity to bring home the World’s Best Burger title,” Mark Bucher, BGR founder, told QSR. “We will be entering our Wellington Burger, which has received critical praise all across the United States, and we know once the judges try it, we will be hard to beat.”

BGR was selected as one of the "wild card" competitors, and will face off against the winners of food competitions across the country. The burger champion will receive $10,000 and the World Food Champion will take home $50,000.

Who do you think makes the best burger in the world? Tell us in the comments.

I'd like to be a judge at this... how does someone get to be a world champion food judge anyway?

Anyone can make a burger for a judge taste great. The better question: What burger joint makes great burgers for *all* their customers.

Hi this is Mark Bucher, founder of BGR. At this contest, Ias in all the competitions that we have participated in and won, we prepare the exact same Wellington Burger that I make for all of my customers in Bethesda, Cabin John and RIO. Better yet. Go have the Wellington , medium rare and if its not the best burger you've ever had, ill buy it...

I wonder if there will be a vegetarian burger in the burger contest...

I agree that BGR has the best burgers.

I have been to BGR twice, once in Bethesda and once in Washingtonian Square. [The latter location took forever to open, but it is right by the theaters -- very convenient.] The burger from the Bethesda joint was disappointing, but the french fries and milk shakes were very good. Fries are not easy to do well, but if you can't make a delicious milk shake you need to find something else to do with your life. Still, what you want from a burger place is a great burger. The hamburger I ate from the Washingtonian Square location was much better, so hopefully the Bethesda location was just having a bad day. In any case, I'd say BGR has a pretty steep climb to come back from Vegas with any trophies.
