Downtown Bethesda Caribou To Become Peet's Coffee

The change should happen within the next 12-18 months, a manager tells Patch.

The downtown Bethesda Caribou Coffee will be changing to a Peet's Coffee and Tea sometime in the next 12 to 18 months, manager Lauren Callahan told Patch.

The shift comes amidst changes for Caribou, as the popular coffee chain announces the closure of 80 underperforming stores across the country and turns another 88 stores over to Peet's.

Luckily, Bethesdans won't have to worry about losing the popular java shop.

"Other than that, we'll still be here," Callahan said.

The closures will likely not affect Maryland stores, Callahan said, with the exception of the location in Owings Mills.

The company said the changes will better position the chain for long-term growth, according to news reports.
