Office building is planned for the site of the former McDonald's.

Local leaders are set to participate in the groundbreaking of a nine-story, 220,000 square foot office building at 4500 East-West Highway Thursday morning.

The building is planned for the site of the former McDonald's. A new McDonald's is planned as part of the retail element of the building, which is being developed by Carr Properties and is expected to come online in the summer of 2014.

The office building, which will be LEED Platinum certified, will also feature 13,000 square feet of ground-floor retail, below-grade parking, a fitness facility, a conference center and a 4,500 square-foot rooftop terrace.
