“Remember that we had a huge surge early in the winter, in the early part of the year,” John Townsend, a spokesman for AAA Mid-Atlantic, told WTOP. Normally, Townsend said, that surge, which lowers demand, happens in the spring.
Low demand, increased production, low crude oil prices and “disappointing economic news” have all contributed to the lower prices which, according to AAA, will continue to slide throughout the summer.
By the Fourth of July Weekend, regular gas may be as low as $3.33 per gallon.
