Why Go: Peruse arts and crafts from over 400 artisans, including pottery, sculpture, glass, jewelry, fashion, furniture and photography. Also enjoy live music, food, and demonstrations.

2.) Classical Guitarist Dimitris Kotronakis

Where/When: 8-10 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at the Westmoreland Congregational United Church of Christ, 1 Westmoreland Circle in Bethesda

Why Go: Renowned classical guitarist Dimitris Kotronakis will perform the John E. Marlow guitar series, which begins with J.S. Bach's Chaconne.

Where/When: 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20, at Chevy Chase Village Hall, 5906 Connecticut Ave. in Chevy Chase

Why Go: Learn about and meet Wild Rose Greenhow, the Washington society matron who used her connections to spy for the Confederacy. Greenhow was imprisoned with her daughter in early 1862 for tipping off Confederate troops to the Union's plans for the Battle of First Manassas—a battle she ultimately helped the Confederacy to win. Ann Blackman, Greenhow's biographer, will speak about Greenhow's role in the Civil War, and Greenhow herself will join the program in the person of historical impersonator Emily Lapisardi, attired in authentic 19th-century costume. The event is organized by the Chevy Chase Historical Society.

Where/When: 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at Connelly School of the Holy Child, 9029 Bradley Blvd in Potomac

Why Go: The shopping extravaganza, now in its seventh year, brings more than 70 local vendors to Holy Child to sell jewelry, clothing, custom made gifts, fine art, and an assortment of quality items just in time for crossing off your holiday lists. This year's "Always Chic Boutique" will add clothing and shoes to its already rich array of gently used household items; a Tiger Cafe offers lunch and bakery items so you can eat and get dessert amidst the shopping. Sunday times are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Where/When: 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20 at Gandhi Memorial Center at 4748 Western Ave. in Bethesda

Why Go: The Gandhi Memorial Center presents an evening of Hindustani classical music with Jay Gandhi, a talented and devoted student of renowned bansuri maestro Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, with tabla (percussion) accompaniment by Monir Hossain.

Price: $20 (admission is payable only at the door).
