Giordano Maintains Innocence On 'Good Morning America'

Gaithersburg man was held in Aruba in connection with disappearance of North Bethesda woman Robyn Gardner.

Gary Giordano proclaimed his innocence in the disappearance of North Bethesda woman Robyn Gardner in a Thursday morning interview with Good Morning America, the AP reports.

Giordano, of Gaitherburg, was realeased from an Aruban jail Tuesday after being held since August in connection with Garder's disappearance. He told authorities his 35-year-old traveling companion disappeared while on a snorkleing excursion.

An Aruban appeals court upheld a ruling Wednesday that there's not enough evidence to continue detaining Giordano. He has not been charged, but Aurban authorities say he remains a suspect in the case, according to the AP.

Giordano, who has three sons, told Good Morning America, "I'd accepted the fact that they were gonna keep me from my kids forever," the AP reported.

He responded "absolutely not" when asked whether he was involved in Gardner's disappearance, according to the AP. But he said: "A person that I cared about, a companion ... has disappeared on my watch. It will weigh heavily on me for a very long time."
