Giordano Released From Aruban Jail

Gaithersburg man still a suspect in the disappearance of North Bethesda woman Robyn Gardner, ACB7 and the AP reports.

Gary Giordano, the Gaithersburg businessman suspected in the disappearance of North Bethesda woman Robyn Gardner, was released from an Aruban jail Tuesday evening, according to a report by the AP and ABC7.

Giordano, 50, has been held on the Dutch Caribbean island since August, when he told authorities that Gardner, his 35-year-old traveling companion, had disappeared while snorkeling.

Giordano remains a suspect in the case and could be extradited if a judge rules he should be held longer, according to the report.

He was expected to head back to Maryland Wednesday morning.

"Throughout the entire process it's been a fishing expedition, and it's time for them to cut bait,” Jose Baez, Giordano’s attorney, told Good Morning America, according to the report.

Baez gained fame as a defense attorney for Florida mother Casey Anthony.

“You build a case around evidence. You don't start a case and then go looking for evidence,” Baez said.

Gardner's family is reportedly "very disappointed" in the ruling.
