Judge To Mull Cameras In The Courtroom For Huguely Sentencing
A hearing on a request for cameras at the upcoming sentencing of George Huguely will move forward July 25, earlier than originally scheduled.
A motions hearing in a Charlottesville, Va., court to review a request to allow cameras at the sentencing of Chevy Chase native George Huguely has been moved up on the calendar.
In February, Huguely was of second-degree murder in the May 2010 death of Cockeysville native Yeardley Love, his ex-girlfriend. both played lacrosse University of Virginia.
A court date to review a request by NBC29 and the Daily Progress to allow cameras in the courtroom during an upcoming hearing and Huguely’s sentencing will go forward July 25 at 1 p.m., according to the City of Charlottesville. The hearing originally was set for Aug. 6.

A call to the clerk about the reasoning for the scheduling change wasn’t immediately returned.
Media outlets are seeking permission to film and photograph an Aug. 22 hearing, during which the court will hear a defense motion to and request a new trial.

They are also asking a judge to allow video and still cameras at Huguely’s Aug. 30 sentencing hearing.
