Jury Pool Whittled Down In Huguely Murder Trial

12 jurors and three alternates to be selected, the AP reports.

Following two days of jury selection, a pool of 25 potential jurors remained Tuesday evening ahead of the murder trial of Chevy Chase native George Huguely, the AP reported.

Huguely is accused of killing his ex-girlfriend Yeardley Love, of Cockeysville. Both played lacrosse at the University of Virginia.

Tuesday evening, a Charlottesville Circuit Court judge dismissed the potential jurors and warned them not to read or watch media coverage of the case, according to the AP.

The jury pool will be whittled down to 12 jurors and three alternate jurors in the Charlottesville court Wednesday, according to the report. Opening statements are expected to begin after the jury is seated.

Jurors were questioned Tuesday about their views related to alcohol and domestic abuse, along with whether or not news reports on the high-profile case have led them to form an opinion, the Daily Progress reported.

Many who reported they have formed opinions believe Huguely is guilty, according to the Daily Progress.

Huguely pleaded not guilty to his charges, which include first-degree murder.
