Medical Center Station To Close This Weekend

Major track work is planned between Bethesda and Grosvenor.

If you’re hopping the Metro this weekend, plan ahead.

Major track work is planned between Bethesda and Grosvenor, with Metro crews conducting National Transportation Safety Board-recommended track circuit replacement, accoording to WMATA. Here’s what you need to know:

  • The Medical Center Metro station will be closed this weekend. Free shuttle buses will be replacing trains between Bethesda and Grosvenor from 10 p.m. Friday through closing on Sunday.
  • There will be normal weekend Red Line service outside of the work zone – between Bethesda and Glenmont and Shady Grove and Grosvenor.
  • The last train operating on a normal schedule will leave Shady Grove at 9:43 p.m. Friday and Bethesda at 10 p.m. The last train before work begins headed for Shady Grove will leave Glenmont at 9:05 p.m. and Bethesda at 9:50 p.m.
  • The last Red Line train will leave Shady Grove 15 minutes earlier than usual this weekend – at 2:15 a.m. early Saturday and Sunday mornings, and at 11:15 p.m. Sunday night.
  • Riders traveling through the work zone should tack on an additional 20 minutes of travel time.
