Neighborhood Work Group Scheduled to Discuss Purple Line, Capital Crescent Trail

Meeting is set for April 13.

A small group work session is now scheduled for residents to weigh in on the Purple Line and how it will affect the Capital Crescent Trail. The session is slated for 7-9 p.m. April 13 at

Small group work sessions are planned for residents and other stakeholders to voice their concerns and ideas on design and engineering issues for the planned 16-mile light rail that will connect Bethesda and New Carrollton. The groups are organized into station areas — including Bethesda — and other meeting areas and topics, including the Georgetown Branch/Capital Crescent Trail and bike and pedestrian facilities.

The current plan calls for building the Purple Line on the popular trail’s right of way and constructing the Capital Crescent Trail from Bethesda to the Silver Spring Transit Center. The plan has drawn sharp criticism from some downcounty residents.
