Next Meeting Set for Sandy Spring Rural Village Plan

The final plan is set to be completed in June 2015.

In May, Montgomery County will get the chance to hear about recommendations for the new Sandy Spring Rural Village Plan. The public meeting starts at 7 p.m. Wednesday May 14 at the Sandy Springs Friends School Library at Yarnall Hall, 16923 Norwood Road, in Sandy Spring.

The presentation is a culmination of last month’s community meeting on zoning, land use and design, and a community workshop in February.

Recommendations will next be organized into a staff draft, said Kristin O’Connor, a planning coordinator for the Montgomery County Department of Planning, and the lead planner for the project. From there, organizers will draft another version of the plan that is slated for adoption in June 2015.

“We are counting on the people who actually have a stake in this village center,” O’Connor said in a phone interview. “We’re really leaning on the concerns and comments we get so that we know, as a staff, that we have done our job and pushed our plan in the right direction."
