Overnight Lane Closures Expected To Begin Friday On Old Georgetown Road

Two lanes on Old Georgetown Road will be closed overnight this weekend and next weekend, SHA says.

Two-lane overnight lane closures on Old Georgetown Road will begin Friday evening as a part of the Maryland State Highway Administrations’s ongoing on the route.

SHA is beginning new bus pad installation on Old Georgetown between North Brook Lane and Wisconsin Avenue in downtown Bethesda beginning at 10p.m. Friday. Weather permitting, crews will close two southbound lanes overnight between between 10p.m. Friday and noon on Saturday. A single southbound lane will be closed from noon Saturday until noon Sunday.

Next weekend, crews will close two northbound lanes overnight between 10pm. Friday, June 17 and noon Saturday, June 18, and close a single northbound lane between noon Saturday, June 18 and noon Sunday, June 19.

Crews will be working to pour and form new bus pads during the lane closures.

The road resurfacing project is expected to be complete sometime this summer.
