○ Accomplishment: Halle is an avid baker and last year took up baking cakes for her favorite local charitable groups as a bat mitzvah project. Recipients of the cakes – about ten groups -- included Audubon, the Glen Echo Fire Department, the Bethesda Library and the Humane Society. “She thought she would recognize these organizations that often aren’t thanked,” said her mom, Debbie.

But she didn’t stop there – Halle bakes cakes for friends and family, for sick children at the Children’s Inn at NIH, and even for an ill teacher. “The teacher was just so touched,” Debbie said.

○ Key to Awesomeness:  Halle got started with baking at a young age after watching her mother create cakes.  Now, she bakes so much her mom sometimes has to take the spatula away. “She doesn’t believe in making things from a box, she makes everything from scratch,” Debbie said.
