Woman Struck By Train At Bethesda

Trains single tracking around the incident.

A woman has has been fatally struck by a train at the Bethesda Metro station.

The incident happened around 8:10p.m. Sunday, according to Dan Stessel, a spokesman for Metro.

Stessel said it appears the woman intentionally placed herself in the path of the train, which was headed in the direction of Glenmont.

Metro Transit Police, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue and the medical examiner were responding to the scene Sunday evening. Trains were single-tracking in the area, causing a delay of about five to seven minutes for Metro riders, Stessel said.

"It's under investigation, but all indications are this was intentional," Stessel said.
