PHOTOS: Storm Damage in Bethesda

Falling trees severely damaged several homes and cars overnight.

Though life went on in downtown Bethesda following Hurricane Irene, some Bethesdans woke Sunday morning to darkened or damaged homes.

The number of Bethesda homes in the dark shortly before 4p.m. was about 3,750, down slightly from the more than 4,000 reported early Sunday morning.

Many seemed to bounce back quickly from the storm, taking to Twitter and Facebook to report surprise that the lights stayed on for the entirety of the storm, but others weren't so lucky. Montgomery County Fire and Rescue reported responding to about two dozen calls for trees damaging homes, several of which were in Bethesda.
