Report: Montgomery County Ensures Parks Are Up to ADA Standards

County parks are being surveyed to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Come 2016, all parks in Montgomery County will have been surveyed to figure out how they can be more accessible to people with disabilities.

The Gazette reports that the county parks department is working to bring all of its facilities up to the code of the Americans with Disabilities Act. 

Of the 400 parks in the county, older ones in Bethesda, Glenmont, Silver Spring and Wheaton built before the 23-year-old law existed are most likely to need fixes to comply, Bob Green, ADA compliance project manager for the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission Montgomery Parks, told The Gazette
