Brittany Norwood stands accused of killing her co-worker, Jayna Murray, at the Bethesda Avenue sports apparel shop in March. At an Aug. 17 hearing, lawyers for Norwood told a judge they are still in search of an expert witness to testify at the trial, according to a report in The Gazette. The lawyers suggested they may seek to use Maryland’s equivalent of the insanity defense at trial, according to The Gazette.

Monday, WTOP reported in a tweet that Norwood’s lawyers are asking for a delay of the trial and an insanity defense is “likely.” Online court records indicate that Norwood’s lawyers filed a motion to postpone the trial Aug. 19.  A hearing on the motion is set for Aug. 30.
