Prosecutors in the case, along with Murray’s family, are opposing a request by the defense to Norwood’s October trial, according to The Gazette. Norwood’s defense has said they need more time to develop a not criminally responsible case.

In a court filing, the prosecution wrote, “The defense should not be permitted to postpone a well-settled trial date on the barest of assertions that they need more time, when this issue has been ripe for them to pursue since March 26,” according to The Gazette.

The prosecution is arguing that postponing the trial would pose a hardship to Murray’s family, the Washington Post reported. The prosecution has requested that Murray’s father be allowed to address the judge via Skype during a Tuesday hearing set to discuss whether the trial should be postponed, according to the Post.
