Rockville Pike Traffic Light To Operate 30 Extra Minutes

The State Highway Administration is attempting to alleviate backups on Walter Reed Bethesda's campus.

If you're venturing onto the Rockville Pike during rush hour, take heed.

Beginning Thursday evening, the State Highway Admininistration will test a re-calibration of the new traffic light at the North Wood Road gate to the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

The signal, which is only operational during rush hours, will be operating until 6:30 p.m. -- a half an hour longer than usual, reports county BRAC coordinator Phil Alperson.
