Rockville Station Re-Opens After Bomb Threat

Threat was unfounded; spurred delays on Red Line.

A bomb threat by a woman riding by a Red Line train prompted the evacuation of the Rockville Metro station Monday morning around 7:45a.m.,

Police didn't find evidence of a bomb, but Metro service was suspended between the Shady Grove and Grosvenor-Strathmore stations during the investigation.

Metro service was restored around 9:30a.m.. Shuttle bus service was put in place during the incident and commuters experienced delays on the Red Line.

Spectators taking Metro to the U.S. Open at -- where practice rounds kicked off Monday -- have been instructed to reserve a shuttle from the Grosvenor-Strathmore station.
