UPDATE: Jury Seated In Suburban Murder Trial

Update, 5 p.m.: A jury has been seated in the trial of Keith D. Little, the man accused of killing his supervisor Roosevelt Brockington, Jr. at Suburban Hospital Jan. 1.

The jury of seven women and five men was instructed not to read local newspapers, listen to news on the radio, watch television newscasts or read news online as they were sent home for the evening.

Three jurors -- two men and one woman -- were also selected as alternates.

The jurors were whittled down from a pool of about 90 as they were asked questions about their ability to fairly and impartially judge the case based on evidence and the law.

During the jury selection process, Judge Marielsa A. Bernard warned the group that jurors would be viewing photographs relating to stabbing and knife wounds, and asked whether the images would affect their ability to judge the case.

Opening statements are expected Tuesday morning.

Update, 1:25 p.m.: Jury selection began this morning in the trial for Keith D. Little, the man accused of killing his supervisor Roosevelt Brockington, Jr., at Suburban Hospital Jan. 1.

A pool of about 90 potential jurors is expected to be whittled down to 12 jurors and three alternates. Depending on when the jury is seated, opening statements could begin Monday afternoon or Tuesday.

During Monday's proceedings, Judge Marielsa A. Bernard asked the group questions about their ability to judge the case impartially. About a third of the pool responded that they were familiar with the case.

Little, wearing glasses and dressed in a black suit, stood before the court as Bernard asked if anyone knew him. No one did.

Prosecutors said they expect to finish calling their witnesses Thursday afternoon. The defense team said they intended to call Wanda Little and Kathy Little -- presumably relatives of the defendant -- to the stand.

Both the defense and the prosecution agreed the trial would likely be shorter than the scheduled eight days.

Original Post, 6 a.m.: The trial of the man accused of killing his supervisor at is expected to begin Monday.

Keith D. Little of Lanham is a hospital maintenance engineer, who was found stabbed over 70 times in the hospital’s basement broiler room Jan. 1.

A jury is expected to be selected from a pool of 75-100 potential jurors. The selection process will begin at 9:30 a.m. at Montgomery County Circuit Court in Rockville before Judge Marielsa A. Bernard.

Little was in 2006, but prosecutors have agreed not to allude to the previous acquittal during the trial. A ahead of the trial.
