This Weekend: What To Know If You're Taking Metro

Red Line trains will single-track between Dupont Circle and Van Ness-UDC.

Planning on hopping the Red Line this weekend? Here’s a few things you should know, according to WMATA:

  • Over the three-day Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday weekend, track work is planned on the Red, Blue and Orange Lines. The work will launch at 10 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, and continue through closing on Monday, Jan. 16.
  • On the Red Line, trains will be single-tracking between Dupont Circle and Van Ness-UDC as Metro crews continue National Transportation Safety Board-recommended track circuit replacement, as well as rail and fastener renewal.
  • On the other side of the Red Line, trains will single-track between Takoma and Forest Glen.
  • Red Line trains will run about every 24 minutes between Shady Grove and Glenmont.
  • Between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and Monday, additional trains will run between Fort Totten and Farragut North.
  • On the Blue and Orange lines, free shuttle buses will replace trains between L'Enfant Plaza and Eastern Market.
  • For further information, check Metro’s press release.
