This Weekend: What To Know If You're Taking Metro

Trains will be single-tracking between Dupont Circle and Friendship Heights.

Planning on hopping the Red Line this weekend? Here’s a few things to know, according to WMATA:

  • Track work is planned on the Red Line between 10 p.m. Friday and closing Sunday.
  • Red Line trains will share one track between Dupont Circle and Friendship Heights as Metro crews conduct National Transportation Safety Board-recommended track circuit replacement, along with rail and fastener renewal.
  • On the other side of the Red Line, trains will also single-track between the Takoma and Forest Glen stations.
  • Red Line trains will be running about every 30 minutes throughout the weekend. Additional trains will run between Fort Totten and Farragut North between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
  • Additional track work is planned on the Blue, Orange and Green Lines. Check Metro’s press release for more information.
