This Weekend: What To Know If You're Taking Metro

Red Line trains will single-track between Friendship Heights and Van Ness.

Planning on hopping the Red Line this weekend? Here’s a few things you need to know, according to WMATA:

  • Work is planned on the Red Line this weekend, launching Friday at 10 p.m. continuing through closing Sunday.
  • Trains will be single-tracking between Friendship Heights and Van Ness as Metro crews conduct rail fastener renewal, leak repairs and track bed cleaning.
  • Trains will also be single tracking between New York Avenue and Rhode Island Avenue.
  • Trains will run about every 15 minutes on the Red Line this weekend. From 9 a.m. Saturday through 9 p.m. Sunday, additional service will have trains running every 7-8 minutes between Van Ness and New York Avenue.
  • Riders traveling through the work zones should tack on an additional 10-15 minutes to their trip time.
  • Additional work is planned on the Orange and Blue lines, where shuttle buses will replace trains between Courthouse and Foggy Bottom on the Orange Line and between Pentagon and Foggy Bottom on the Blue Line. Check Metro’s press release for more information.
